LUXUS FASHION BRANDS PIERRE CARDIN & BALDESSARINI

Introducing: The Ahlers Group - with more than 50 exclusive fashion brands that divide the range between premium fashion and workwear. As a reliable partner to the specialized trade and with around 1700 hard-working employees who produce over 5 million stylish items every year, Ahlers is a real player in the fashion world.

OUR TASK

The challenge we set ourselves: To create a brand new e-commerce experience for the luxury brands Baldessarini and Pierre Cardin. It wasn't just the fashion that had to impress, but also the online shopping itself. We had to achieve this in less than 3 months - with a targeted strategy and creative approach to designing the two completely different shops. The requirement: perfection in design and performance. The aim was to maximize performance - in all areas.

THE IDEA

Our vision was an aesthetic layout that put fashion front and centre while providing a lightning-fast, robust platform. With Shopware Frontends as the technological foundation, we aimed for the symbiosis of beauty and technology. As one of the first Shopware Frontends projects worldwide, we wanted to develop an e-commerce experience that takes luxury brands to a new level. Shopware Frontends allows for premium quality images with fast loading times and clean layouts with outstanding UX. Our own plugins were integrated, multilingualism was ensured through targeted component overriding and a push service for direct notifications was implemented. External applications such as Picalike were to be connected.

THE IMPLEMENTATION

ALLGEMEIN

GENERAL

In order to meet the tight deadline, we worked with an external UX agency. To fulfil the high demands of our customers, we integrated our own plugins and specifically overwrote components. Picalike, as a "shop the look" application, was connected to radically improve the user experience.

With efficient project management and close collaboration with the Ahlers team, we successfully realized this project.
Our project setup consisted of PO (Scrummaster), Teamlead Tech, several Backend & Frontend Developers, QM and Dev Opts. On the Ahlers side, we had 4 employees at our disposal.

SHOPWARE 6 FRONTENDS

But why did we decide in favour of Shopware frontends in the first place? Quite clearly: the enormous flexibility of the headless approach. This allowed us to optimally fulfil the core topics of performance and user interface. Of course, this was associated with a certain amount of risk due to the early phase that Frontends is in. In the end, however, it paid off for our customer and for us. The simplicity of component-based development made it possible to meet this seemingly impossible deadline.

THE RESULT

On the 29th of March, the time had finally come - we unveiled the new Shopware Frontends online shops for Baldessarini and Pierre Cardin. The luxury brands shone in new splendour and offered their discerning customers an incomparable shopping experience. Fast loading times for high-resolution images, shop stability and a customized UX - exactly what the fashion brands were looking for. We are particularly proud of the fact that we were able to fulfil all requirements. In terms of performance, project time and budget.

DISCLAIMER
Unfortunately, the Ahlers Group had to file for insolvency in the meantime. For no apparent reason, the new investor has discontinued all of the brands' e-commerce activities. As a result, all that remains of our shops are memories and a wealth of experience.
